Installation Instructions

Full Vehicle Install

Supplies needed: squeegee, snap-off cutting knives, hair dryer,  scissors, wax and grease  remover and paper towels.

Air and vehicle temperature should be between 60 and 90 degrees.

  • Wash and dry vehicle.  Make sure vehicle is dry around all edges.
  • Wipe with wax and grease remover- such as Dupont Prep-sol,  3M Adhesive Cleaner or Sherwin Williams R7K156 and R7K158  (alcohol-based cleaners are not recommended ) Make sure you clean all the edges and corners!
  • Check size and fit of all the pieces.  You will want to cut the side pieces for the front and rear quarter panels and cab.  If you don’t have everything you need, give us a call.  We will be happy to get it for you.
  • Each piece should be a little larger than the area it’s being applied to so that you can come back and trim off the excess.
  • With larger pieces of vinyl it will be helpful to have another person to hold the other side.
  • Once you have your piece ready to put on, have your helper take one side and pull the backing off about a foot or two, then crease the paper backing down flat out of the way.  Take care not to let the sticky side fold over on itself.  If this does happen, slowly peel it apart.
  • Hold the corners and position it, then gently stick it across the top.  With your squeegee, work with medium to light pressure from the center outward and keeping a little tension on the bottom of the piece with your other hand.  Use overlapping squeegee strokes to be sure you don’t miss any areas.
  • When you reach where the backing has been creased,  just pull it down some more and keep going.
  • Once you have your vinyl on, lay your cutting blade flat on the edge and trim.
  • You can then go back with heat from your hair dryer and firm pressure to set the vinyl.

Note:   Put the sides, hood and tailgate on first, then the support columns around the windows and finally the roof edge.  The pieces should overlap a little, like shingles on a roof.

Note:  When working around door handles and raised brand emblems, cut an “x” over the emblem so the vinyl will lay flat.  Then come back and finish around the emblem.

Note:  Mossy Oak Graphics is a 3M Controltac material, which means you can pull it apart, lift it off and try it again!  Everyone will have to lift it back up from time to time.  Just gently put your clean hand under it and lift it up.

Note:  Mossy Oak Graphics uses only 3M cast vinyl which has superior stretchability when heated to conform over complex contours and into channels.  Most vehicles have channels, so as you are installing, push the vinyl into these areas, then go back with heat from your hair dryer and work it in again.

Note:  Relief cuts are necessary around compound curves(curves that are in two directions, like the front and rear corners of your vehicle.)  To get the vinyl to lay flat you will need to make small cuts where the material wants to wrinkle, then overlap the vinyl pieces and the cuts will disappear.

Note:  Mossy Oak Graphics 3M cast vinyl has air release technology, which means that trapped air bubbles will escape as you work the vinyl down with your squeegee.  Sometimes you will get a large air bubble trapped.  There are two things you can do, lift the material gently back up or put a pin hole in it to let the air escape.  Using overlapping squeegee strokes starting from the center and working outward will eliminate air bubbles.

Indoor Graphic Installation Instructions

  • Wipe down your selected surface with a lint-free cloth.
  • Remove your graphic from its package, lay it face up on a flat surface, and leave it for at least 30 minutes to allow material to flatten.
  • If your graphic is 4’ x 4’ or larger, it is recommended that you have another person assist you in the application.
  • Slowly and carefully peel away the excess vinyl around your graphic.
  • Start at one end of the graphic and slowly peel off the backing paper.  Take care not to let the adhesive fold over on itself.  If this happens, slowly peel it apart to avoid damaging the adhesive or tearing the graphic.
  • Once the graphic is completely removed from the backing, begin applying it to your surface.  If you have purchased a full photo with straight edges, you’ll want to start with the top edge to ensure it is level, then smooth downward.  If you have purchased a cut-out, it is generally best to start in the middle and smooth your way out to the edges with the palm of your hand.  Have your helper hold the portion of the graphic you are not ready to apply away from the surface.
  • Remember that Mossy Oak Graphics Indoor Wall Graphics are removable, so if your graphic is not where desired, carefully remove it from the wall and begin the application process again.
  • Once your graphic is in place, rub it firmly across the entire surface to secure it in place.

Window Graphic Installation Instructions

CAUTION! - Do not apply to the following: windshields, driver door window glass or passenger side door glass!

Effects of condensation on window quality of perforated window films: rainfall, snowfall and or car washes can fill the small perforations and cause reduced vision until drying occurs.

Consult your local laws regarding the application of window tint to vehicle glass.

Wet Weather Safety Tip

Rain can collect in the small holes and reduce vision. Use a towel to dry the surface of the Vantage Point Concepts image for a clearer view prior to driving your vehicle.

Prepare the Vehicle

If you cannot bring the vehicle into a heated building, make sure that the outside air temperature is above +40º F (+5ºC). Pre-warming the car interior during cold weather application will help insure proper adhesion.

Clean the outside glass surface which you will be applying the image to thoroughly with soap and water. Make sure that the glass surface is dry and residue free before applying your Vantage Point Concepts™ window image.

Remember: The pressure sensitive adhesive works best if mounted on VERY CLEAN GLASS.

Position and Apply

(WARNING - DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN OR WATER TO APPLY) When applying the window graphic, use masking tape strips to pre-position the image on the vehicle before removing the backing material. Carefully peel off adhesive backing from behind the image and apply from one edge and work to the opposite side, smoothing the image to prevent wrinkles. To remove any wrinkles, gently lift up the image to where the wrinkle is, smooth out the wrinkle with your hand, and continue applying. Vantage Point Concepts are a dry mount product !

Bond and Trim

To help adhesion, lay the disposable backing over the image and rub firmly from the center to the sides of the image. If mounting a full window Vantage Point Concepts image you will have extra material to trim outside of the edge of your rear window glass. Trim the excess material with a razor blade or similar tool to complete the installation. The pressure sensitive adhesive bonds to the glass very well when first applied but sets more firmly after a twenty-four (24) hour period. Avoid power car washes for the first week after application. For longer life avoid using snow scrapers on this image. Treat this image as you would the painted surface of your car. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the image. Rear window mounted wiper blades will cause premature wear of the image.

The perforated film can be removed by using a thin scraper device. It is best to start in one corner and lift up a small section. After this is done, you can normally use hand force to pull the image from the glass. As with any decal or sticker, the warmer the outside temperature, the easier the removal will be. If any adhesive residue remains on the glass surface it can be cleaned with any quality commercial glass cleaning liquid or citrus-based adhesive remover / cleaner.

Care Tips

Special note for sliding glass rear window installations: If your vehicle is equipped with a sliding rear cab window, it is reccomended that you wait one week before sliding the window. This will ensure that the pressure-sensative adhesive is securely attached to the glass.

Car Washing

Avoid washing your window graphic for the first week after it is installed. After this time you can safely take your vehicle thru any commercial brush-type car wash.

High Pressure Power Washing

If you are using a do-it-yourself car wash, do not hold the wash wand closer than ten inches to the window mural surface. Use the same care that you would any pinstriping or vinyl graphic on your vehicle and you should enjoy many years of use from your rear window graphic.

Winter Use

Avoid using ice scrapers on the image as this may damage the vinyl.

Heated Rear Windows

Heated rear window systems will not cause any damage to your window graphic. Use of your rear defroster will help speed up the drying of your glass during wet weather use.

Wet Weather Safety Tip

Rain can collect in the small holes and reduce vision. Use a towel to dry the surface of the Vantage Point Concepts image for a clear view prior to driving your vehicle.

DO NOT USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS ON THE IMAGE. REAR WINDOW MOUNTED WIPER BLADES WILL CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR OF THE IMAGE
